Sunday, May 31, 2015

As you all know I have the tendency to say “yes” to everything. This means that I have a bunch of projects that needs to be done in a certain period of time. My open projects includes my daily work tasks as technical writer, blogging tasks such as writing content, producing images and promoting on social media, I also have personal projects that I never even started like fixing my closet and my vanity area.

But the “productive” in me is a fighter. I am glad that though I have days that tasks are overwhelming there are still a part of me that get things done. And all I do is to follow the 7 Tips on Effective Project Management.

A wedding can be very costly. The reason why a high percentage choose to just live in or marry via civil is because they want to escape the high cost of the whole ceremony. Wedding in the Philippines can be very expensive. A lot may think that it will only cost 50-75,000pesos but from the preparation to the post celebration, a typical Filipino wedding with the hotel, ceremony and reception can cause you up to 200,000pesos. By culture, the man (and his family) will have to spend more than the girl. However, in the modern times, most wedding budget is between the couple. This is the reason why agreeing to a wedding budget is important.

Deciding on the key elements such as type of ceremony, wedding theme, color motif and so on and so forth will never be just between the two of you. This however, should not  keep you from having the wedding that you want. Keep calm as today I'll give you concrete tips on making decisions for your wedding without the chaos  in between.

Isang Pagbati para sa mga Kapwa ko Empleyado!

Sunday, May 24, 2015

May 1 is marked as a national holiday. It is a day set aside to recognize all the working men and women. I believe it is not just an ordinary day off for employees out there like me but a day to pay tribute to your role as part of the country’s working force.

I’ve been an employee for the past two years of my life and it has been the best two years spent with people that matter. At 19, I got myself my first actual job as a Marketing Assistant in a Milk Tea shop. Then I resigned after three months in order to pursue my Journalism degree and found an SEO Content Writing job as a second job. One month later I felt burdened by the massive workload so again I resigned.

At that time I know it will be hard for me to land a job as I never stayed in a work for more than a six month, I found a home in IT Company in Makati and to where I am working for a year and two months as a Technical Writer.

Each one of us has our own "job" story and there are those whom go to the everyday hardships at work. My hope is that you'll find happiness in your career. I always believe that everything that happens in our life has a reason so stop worrying about tomorrow and continue on your hard work!

Today is our day to celebrate the contributions that we’ve done for every employer/company we work with.

So I say my biggest congratulations to all the men and women out there who strive hard in their own chosen career.

  • To those who battle the morning rush just to be at their office on time.
  • To those who eagerly wait for their monthly pay slip knowing that the hard earned money will go to a good place.
  • To those who fall in line to get their lunch and enjoy every minute of their break time.
  • To those who spend the after working hours wisely though that means spending another long hours to be at home.
  • To those who miss sleeping late and waking up late in the morning.
  • To those who’d love to spend their weekends/day offs together with their family or have a weekend distressing moments.
  • To those who work harder and better in order to prepare for their future.
  • To those who wander what will happen five years from now will be. Whether they’ll still be in their same job or have their own small business.
  • To you… congratulations,
And Happy Labor Day!

I thank God for giving me the talent of hosting events especially weddings. I feel like I am learning a new thing in every couple that I interview and in every event that I host.

Since June is considered as the wedding month in the Philippines, I thought that it will be nice to create a series focused on wedding alone. I'll try to include things that I learned from the whole years that I spent hosting with the emphasis on budgeting for your wedding, setting up a wedding fund, choosing wedding suppliers and many more.

Believing These 4 Myths About INVESTING Keeps You From Growing

Friday, May 22, 2015

I still consider making my first investment through FAMI-SALEF the biggest financial decision of my life. It was a first time experience and as the good saying dictates, "nothing beats the first time".

Though my determination to be an investor at 20 years old has been more of an "impulse decision", I have no regrets at all. I knew that time I had proved that you are never too young to make a goal in your life... all it takes is the right ACTION.

The Time is Running Out!!! Learn the Importance of Saving Money NOW!

Thursday, May 21, 2015

At the moment, SavingsPinay, have already covered some of the most important concepts in Personal Finance. It all started with one single blog post way back 2013 and now we are nearing 228 published blog posts to date. I am very particular in picking topics that should be published in this blog. I guess one topic idea that I can discuss in my other blog IzzaGlino is how my blogging process goes.

Anyhow, I thought it will be great to focus today’s topic in one of the fundamental concept in the world of personal finance. Out of my 228 published posts only 10 posts are related to this subject so I decide to really give emphasis on the Importance of Saving.

Being a Technical Writer in the Philippines

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

When I got a hold of my diploma, I knew that being a journalist, broadcaster or novelist is not my calling. I have this "gift" when it comes to writing but I don't have that extra edge to serve the nation through press.
I was actually thinking of doing event hosting and event management full time (READ: My Life, My Job, My Career and 6 Success Tips that Helped Me) since it is still related to my Mass Communication field only that BS Journalism is my major. Fortunately, God led me to a career that I will always be thankful for, Being a Technical Writer in the Philippines.

No More Excuses! 7 Awesome Tips that Will Help You Stop Wasting Your Money

Monday, May 18, 2015

Over spending is just something that I find hard to let go. Though I never miss a month without a budget... I find it really hard to commit to my allocation. I will always have excuses and reasons why I deserve a treat, a meal or a splurge on a particular day.

Even though deep inside I know that I should be saving money instead of wasting it for no important reason and put my future first, spending just feels so good. I love grocery shopping, dining alone and over thinking on a specialty cafe until it's too late for me to realize that my saving goals are slowly deteriorating.

Money Lessons That I Learned from my Nanay

Sunday, May 17, 2015

Before I begin this post I'd like to  greet a Belated Happy Mother's Day to all the super moms out there especially to the SavingsPinay mommy readers. I have all my love, respect and affection to all the mothers for I believe that there is nothing greater than a mother's love. No one in our lives shapes us quite like how our mothers does.

Reader Question: What's Your View on "NETWORKING"

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

I love answering questions. The reason why I provided a contact page at the footer of my blog and always include my email address at the end of my post. Whenever I receive an inquiry I feel so kilig because I am reassured that someone is appreciating my blog.

This week I rceived an email from a long time reader to whom I will call Ms. M just because I promised this person not to disclose her identification for her privacy. Though the question is long I still hope that you can read all out.

nETWORKING

Here is my answer:

Hi Ms. M!

I guess the nearest thing that I wrote about "networking" in SavingsPinay will be the "7 Tips Before Joining an MLM Company". At the moment I am in no connection to any networking company but I do think about joining one soon. And the reason is of course  to align my bigger financial goals with my current income.

You may have heard me yell at my blog how we should never be contended on one source of income. :)

I'd like to join one just to open another income stream.

I know you may find networking bad and of course almost everyone including me is not just comfortable in the word "recruitment" and "selling". But networking is here to stay. It is true to itself the next big thing.

Anyhow, my reply is not to convince you to join an MLM Company. Treat my reply as a piece of advice. :)

1. Join an MLM Company that you can trust.

Study the background, check how long the business exists, are there any irregularities and so on.

2. Join an MLM Company that you can sell.

If you are not into gluthathione and beauty soaps then forget Royale, if you are not into vitamins then forget USANA... You can only sell a product that is close in your heart. I for example once joined Avon and Natasha to sell makeup! That's another form of networking and I did earn a living back in college. :) Because I love makeup and I can easily sell makeup!

3. Join an MLM Company that you can afford.

How much does the membership fee is?! Can you afford it? Now if you recruit someone in your network, can they afford it? Affordability is important for that where you'll depend most of your income.

4. Join an MLM Company that don't focus on "recruitment" but focus on  "the product".

I guess the reason why networking garnered a negative impression is because it became more about recruiting and less of the product adding value to people. The product should stand out. For example the Load Central that focus in e-loading.

5. Join and MLM Company that you are at peace.

Every investment that you will make is a financial decision. Are you at peace in joining the company?! Do you have the courage to make that big financial decision?! Will you be happy 1 year, 5 years or 10 years from now?

Remember that all of us have our goals in life. Do not hate your friends who joined MLM as they're just doing what their job. Trust your instinct and really pray that God will guide you in your decisions in life. You can read my blog post for the sign up form.

Thank you Ms. M and I hope my answer served you well. :)

Take this Test to Know if You are Financially Fit

Monday, May 4, 2015

I still can't believe how fast time flies. It is the first week of a new month and just last Thursday I wrote my End of the Month Quick Recap... Again.

Anyways, how are you?! How are things going in terms of your finances? Me?! Well I've been such a gastador for this month and I am really not proud of my financial decisions. You can actually read a post in Izzaglino called My Life This Month in Pictures that will reveal how much spending I did for April.

So with that said and done, I decided to tackle the topic of financial fitness. This may be a new term for some but for those who have been into financial blogs for quiet some time this will be an easy topic and may be in a form of review.

Financial fitness takes your income, expenses, savings and investments into a collective movement. You ought to know whether you are financially fit or not.

Are you financially fit?!

  • Being financially fit enables you to earn enough to pay for your expenses.
  • Being financially fit enables to spend in your needs.
  • Being financially fit enables to save enough for your future needs.
  • Being financially fit enanles you to invest an amount that could turn into money working for you.

There are basically two steps that you could do today to kick start your financial fitness.

1. Create financial your goals

Your goals can be expressed in terms of your desired income and savings we well as the lifestyle you are living in a definite number of years.. You need to know where you currently stand in terms of your income, expenses, savings and investments.

2. Follow a financial check up

Once you have created your financial goals you are now ready to undergo a financial check up. Determine the basic of your finances like checking your credit, tallying your emergency fund, setting up your retirement plans and splitting your savings to an investing vehicle.

Take five minutes to use an online tool that will show you if you’re on track or follow My Financial Net Worth Template. I'd love to send you my template just email me at izzaglinofull@gmail.com.

I actually created a test on financial fitness and if you have time I hope you'll answer. The results are at the end of the quiz. Share this too to your friends and loved ones so they have an idea on how fit they are financially.

I hope that you can share this Financial Fitness Test to anyone you know. This may help them realize their need to financial education. You can also spread this shareable link: http://goo.gl/CcVuvN

SavingsPinay April Quick Recap

Sunday, May 3, 2015
Hi and welcome to another Monthly Quick Recap from SavingsPinay. The month of April has been very good for this blog, thanks for your support. You have given most of my posts generous pageviews and I can’t thank you enough for keeping this blog alive.
This month I was able to create 17 posts which is a fail if you consider my 21 and Better List that includes posting 21 or more topics a month. There are just times when I wasn’t able to come up with great blog topics or moments when I feel lazy to write or I don’t have time to write.

But don’t worry. I am committed to create 21 or more posts for the coming month of May. So if you have any topic suggestion or any financial concept that you want me to blog feel free to use the comment section below or better yet email me at izzaglinofull@gmail.com. I will do my best to come up with a blog post for your inquiry or suggestion.

OK. So now we can move on with My April Quick Recap.

  1. We hit 44,000 Pageviews!!! This is such a surprise for me. One of my blogging goal for SavingsPinay is to have 50,000 pageviews before -ber month starts and I guess we can do it less time. After two years of blogging, SavingsPinay received an average of 4,000 pageviews every month and that figure is just insane for me. I felt more pressured to create quality content that will add more value on the readers. :) Again my huge thank you for this one.
  1. New Published Posts on BrewYourBestYear website. I am just so happy to let you know that there are additional SavingsPinay posts that appeared on BrewYourBestYear, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf’s, inspiring website.

3. SavingsPinay Weekly Newsletter Subscription. If you are new to this site then a pop-up mailing subscription box will show.  I do hope that you will subscribe to my weekly newsletter as I am investing my time and effort in making each newsletter worthy. Just last week my newsletter is a reminder of the Top 10 Most Important Lessons in Personal Finance. If you became part of my weekly newsletter you’ll receive free PDF copy of my very first eBook, Making 2015 Your Best Year Ever plus Templates.

4. Another Career Goal Achievement. As you all know I love creating goals. I have my personal goals, financial goals and of course I have my career goals set aside. Before April ends, I am so happy to announce that I have achieved another major goal on this list. Since the company where I am working is getting bigger the boss approved of hiring an additional Technical Writer to be my protege. I got involved in the hiring process and fortunately I picked the best person for the job. My gut says that “he” can do it. He will start working on May 4. My career goal is actually this: To be able to train someone or have someone under my supervision.

5. New Special Project coming up! You know how amazing ideas suddenly pops up in unexpected places/moment?! One night on my way home I thought of this wonder blog niche idea. I already have the name for the blog and done with registering the blog in almost all social media sites available. This week I am doing all of the editorial tasks as I want all the rich articles ready for launch. I will make an official introduction of the blog SOON.

THIS MONTH ON SAVINGSPINAY:
